About Perth

Perth is a vibrant riverside city in the heart of Scotland, set along the beautiful banks of the River Tay. Known as the historic “Gateway to the Highlands,” it blends rich heritage with a lively, modern feel. The city is home to cultural landmarks such as the Fergusson Gallery, the Black Watch Museum in Balhousie Castle and the newly redeveloped Perth Museum — all offering a glimpse into Scotland’s art, history and traditions.

With a history stretching back to prehistoric times, Perth has long been an important Scottish centre, once hosting the royal court at nearby Scone Abbey where generations of Kings of Scots were crowned. Today, the city is a thriving hub for food, shopping and events, celebrated for its friendly atmosphere and award-winning local produce. Its central location and excellent transport links make it easy to reach by road, rail and bus — a welcoming and accessible spot for visitors from across Scotland and beyond.
